Patient Quality of Life Coalition prioritizes NIH funding in letter to House and Senate Appropriations Committee
The Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association (HPNA) joined national partner organizations in signing on to a Patient Quality of Life Coalition (PQLC) letter to House and Senate Appropriations Committee leadership, requesting that they prioritize funding for the National Institutes of Health in Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 legislation.
PQLC is a national coalition, of which HPNA is a member, that represents patients living with serious illnesses and their families, as well as survivors, hospitals, health systems, hospices, physicians, nurses, physician associates, chaplains, pharmacists, social workers, and scientists. Its goal is to ensure that every individual has access to high-quality palliative care, all healthcare providers and institutions have the capacity to deliver high-quality palliative care, and a robust knowledge base exists to support the delivery of this care.
The letter requests both prioritization of robust funding for NIH and ensuring that NIH facilities and administrative cost reimbursements are adequate sufficiently cover the costs of doing research.
