In 2012 the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association (HPNA), the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Foundation (HPNF), and the National Board for Certification of Hospice and Palliative Nurses now known as the Hospice and Palliative Credentialing Center (HPCC) established the Judy Lentz Scholarship. This honor was made in recognition of Lentz’s retirement after serving 12 years as Chief Executive Officer of the three organizations.

In 2024, the newly revised Judy Lentz Leadership Development Scholarship will provide an HPNA member (CNA, LPN, RN, or APRN) with a one-year membership to HPNA, early-bird conference registration for the Annual Assembly of Hospice and Palliative Care (in person or virtual), and a special one-on-one mentoring opportunity with Lentz.

The goal of this scholarship is to recognize leadership potential, commitment to professional growth, and the ability to contribute to the hospice and palliative care nursing field.

To be eligible, the nominee must be an active HPNA member that has worked in hospice and palliative care for less than 3 years. Applicants can submit an online application including:

  • One signed and dated letter of reference from a supervisor or manager on professional letterhead
  • Resume or CV
