HPNA Distinguished Nursing Practice Award

This award recognizes a nurse who has long provided care for individuals with serious illness and their families in a manner that has clearly gone well beyond the ‘usual and expected’ requirements. The award recognizes a nurse whose clinical practice is exemplary and who is generous in mentoring other clinicians. Nominations will be screened by the HPNA Awards Selection Committee. The HPNA Board of Directors will review the recommendations for approval.  

Recipients will receive:

  • Award with engraving 
  • Travel to an HPNA Annual event (if applicable)
  • One night hotel stay (if applicable)
Eligibility

The recipient will exhibit:

  • A scope of the nursing contributions that should extend beyond that of a single organization or agency.
  • Active involvement in the care of persons with serious illness and their families for a minimum of 10 years. 
  • HPNA membership history of at least five continuous years. 
  • Current HPNA membership
  • As a reflection of the HPNA members, the recipient may have any of the following credentials: APRN, RN, LPN/LVN. or CNA.
  • Current HPNA, HPCC, and HPNF Board members are not eligible.
