The Certified in Perinatal Loss Care of the Year Award presented by the Hospice and Palliative Credentialing Center recognizes the work of perinatal loss care professionals from across the country.
Recipients will receive:
- HPCC covers the cost of renewal for the CPLC® certification
- Award with engraving
- Travel to an HPNA Annual event (if applicable)
Eligibility
- Certified in Perinatal Loss Care (CPLC®)
- Members of the HPCC board, Examination Development Committees, and Awards Selection Committee are ineligible
Criteria
- The individual personifies excellence in their professional practice
- The individual has made contributions in at least one of the following areas of care: clinical practice, education, or research
- The individual provides leadership through mentorship of others in perinatal loss care
Judging
- All nominations are reviewed and the recipient is selected by the Awards Selection Committee of HPCC
HPCC CPLC® of the Year Award Recipients
Sue Steen’s nursing and teaching career spans more than 35 years. She has conducted research and published in perinatal bereavement and works as a perinatal nurse navigator at Maple Grove Hospital in Minnesota with families who have suffered the early or late loss of a baby. She is an adjunct nursing professor at Bethel University and is currently serving on the board of the International Stillbirth Alliance. She spends a great deal of her time working on her project in Uganda, Birth with Dignity, trying to save the lives of mothers and babies in childbirth while providing support in stillbirth.
