Nurse self-awareness has been shown to improve quality of care and decrease stress in patients and families. Self-awareness means being able to honestly take stock of one’s strengths and opportunities for growth. It is important for hospice and palliative clinicians to reflect on their own abilities and where they need to grow, as this is how we best serve patients.
