The 2024 Sigma Foundation for Nursing Research Grant awardee is HPNA member Jyotsana Parajuli, PhD for her project “Development and Content Validation of a Palliative Care Readiness Tool for Family Caregivers of Older Adults with Cancer”

The goal of the Judy Lentz Leadership Development Scholarship is to recognize leadership potential, commitment to professional growth, and the ability to contribute to the hospice and palliative care nursing field. This scholarship is available to an HPNA member (CNA, LPN, RN, or APRN).

The Hospice and Palliative Nurses Foundation is now accepting applications for the 2024 Emerging Leaders Award. This honor is designed to celebrate and encourage early-career hospice and palliative nurses.

The Hospice and Palliative Nurses Foundation (HPNF) is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded a transformative $1.2 million impact grant from the Hospice and Palliative Credentialing Center (HPCC).

The Call for Applications for the 2025 HPNA/HPNF Board of Directors is now open. Candidates who have shown a significant commitment to the advancement of the art and science in the field of palliative nursing and/or philanthropy will be considered strong candidates.

Adelman has been a pediatric nurse for almost 17 years and practiced in a variety of settings, including inpatient pediatrics, school health, pediatric home care, and private-duty nursing, before joining Transitions LifeCare when the kids program launched in September 2015. She became a Certified Hospice and Palliative Pediatric Nurse (CHPPN®) in 2016 and completed a Master of Science degree in palliative care in 2023 (while raising two young children).

When Yan Zhan received a scholarship from the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Foundation (HPNF) to attend the 2024 Annual Assembly of Hospice and Palliative Care in Phoenix, Arizona, she was excited to network and learn from others about her specialty of care. It was her first time attending this well-known, national conference. What she didn’t expect was to come back energized with a sense of confidence, acceptance, and recognition of her work.

The University of Utah College of Nursing supported the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association (HPNA) membership meeting at the 2024 Annual Assembly for Hospice and Palliative Care with a donation to the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Foundation (HPNF). The generous contribution was used to provide lunches for the first 100 HPNA members to attend the annual membership meeting. During the membership meeting, HPNA reviewed 2023 accomplishments and discussed plans for future growth, including new educational, research, leadership, and membership initiatives.

When Amy Beasley graduated from the University of Alabama in 2008, she planned to become an emergency room nurse. But the death of her beloved grandmother led her to a career in hospice and palliative care.

The Hospice and Palliative Nurses Foundation (HPNF) has published a Diversity in Health Care video series for hospice and palliative care professionals that explore fundamental considerations for end-of-life care of patients who identify as Muslim, Jewish, Hindu, or Buddhist.
