Barbara Schmal is a Nurse Educator for HPNA, and was formerly the Clinical Education Team Leader for the Hospice of the Valley in Phoenix, AZ. She holds extensive nursing experience in both acute critical care and post-acute hospice care. Ms. Schmal was first certified in hospice nursing as a CHPN in 1996, and serves as national CHPN certification review course faculty for HPNA. She is a designated member of HPNA's RN Professional Development Advisory Council and expert faculty for HPNA's RN Educational Design Pathway Development, and served as the RN representative of the Hospice and Palliative Credentialing Center (HPCC) Examination Development Committee and as HPCC President.
