"Update on Opioids in Palliative Care" presented by Judith A. Paice PhD RN FAAN. This presentation starts with a brief review of the history of opioid uses in medicine. Judith then reviews the classes, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and pharmacogenomics of opioids. She also discusses the different opioids available for medical, including methadone and how it is different from the other opioid medications. Additionally, she discusses equianalgesic dosing and presents two example calculations for opioid conversion.
