APRN Learning: Pediatric Palliative Care is Complex Primary
APRN Learning: Pediatric Palliative Care is Complex Primary
Presented by Tandy A. Mellard, DNP, RN, CPNP-PC/AC, CHPPN

Approximately half a million children in the United States suffer from serious, complex, life-threatening illness. By definition, if they are seen by more than two providers, they suffer from multi system illness or symptom profile. These children have complex treatment regimens that require multiple medications and durable medical equipment. Children with serious, complex, and chronic illness require thoughtful, coordinated, multidisciplinary care. They frequently require treatments from multiple sub-specialists, further complicating their care.
