APRN Learning - Care Coordination for the Child
Presented by Maggie Root, MSN, RN-BC, PNP, CHPPN

Ms. Root is a pediatric nurse practitioner with certifications in pediatric hospice and palliative care and pediatric acute care. She previously worked as Pediatric Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital with the hospital's Integrated Palliative Pain and Care (IP3) team. After receiving a bachelor's degree in nursing from Marymount University in Arlington, Va., Root completed a master's degree in nursing at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Root also has a bachelor's degree in rhetoric and media studies from Willamette University in Salem, Ore. Root conducts research focusing on the impact of palliative care on children and families facing serious illness, and is a co-editor of the forthcoming edition of the Core Curriculum for the Advance Practice Hospice and Palliative Registered Nurse. She is a member of the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association and the National Academy of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners.
