Ways to Give

There are many ways to express your support of hospice and palliative nurses through the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Foundation, and we appreciate any gifts that you may consider to give.  Our appreciation and recognition of the passionate and generous gifts by all donors to HPNF is heartfelt and expressed in many ways.  We want to identify all of the giving options available to you through HPNF. For more information on these or other HPNF giving options, please contact the foundation directly at 412-787-9301 or email info@hpnf.org.

Annual Appeals

Over the course of a calendar year, HPNF promotes several annual appeals for giving.  These include appeals celebrating National Nurses Week in May, special appeals like the "Meet-the-Match" campaign, and end of the year appeals usually in November and December. Your support will help HPNF extend its mission in support of career development for nurses! Donor Circles

Our donor circle programs give our passionate supporters the opportunity to demonstrate their heartfelt conviction through a giving plan over a certain period of time, usually two or three years.  Donor circles indicate habitual and thoughtful giving by constituents to organizations, ensures program sustainability, and allows for future planning. These donor circles include Sustainer’s Circle, Builder’s Circle, and Physician Giving Circle levels.

Florence Wald Champions

The HPNF Florence Wald Champions program was established in honor of Florence S. Wald, MN, MS, FAAN. Florence Wald Champions are leaders promoting high quality of life for persons experiencing serious illness through excellence in palliative nursing. These devoted and generous donors ensure that funds are available to nurses and other healthcare professionals for education and research in the advancement of the rapidly growing and increasingly important hospice and palliative nursing specialty while honoring the “mother of hospice and palliative care.”

Named Gifts and Tributes

A named gift, sometimes called a commemorative gift, is given in recognition and celebration of a person close to you. It may honor a living person, remember someone who has died, or celebrate an event like a birthday, wedding, anniversary, graduation, retirement, or special holiday. These were established to provide financial assistance for nursing professionals earning their academic degrees, and to support nursing professionals who are advancing their career through academic achievement.

Nessa Coyle Palliative Nursing Leadership Fund

Our newest option for giving, the Nessa Coyle Palliative Nursing Leadership Fund is named in honor of a pioneer in palliative nursing and the ultimate clinician scholar.  The purpose of this fund is to develop and support leadership skills in hospice and palliative nurses, from the bedside to the boardroom.

Planned Giving

Planned giving made to HPNF helps further the work and mission of the foundation, along with enabling you to leave a legacy for your loved ones. Planned gifts are deeply personal and sensitive gifts and are a living reminder left by you that will continue to support the causes you have believed in for years to come. The most common kind of legacy or planned gift is a bequest by will, but others include charitable trusts, charitable gift annuities, life insurance, and retirement plans.

Chapter Giving

Giving back to others is a testament to HPNA Chapters across the country as an affirmation that education, research, and leadership opportunities for hospice and palliative nursing professionals are important. It shows a chapter's passion for helping other nurses in the field. Our chapters can be recognized for giving in two ways, either as a Star Chapter or a Butterfly Chapter, and can be identified as both concurrently.
