Certified Hospice and Palliative Nursing Assistant (CHPNA) Recertification

The Certified Hospice and Palliative Nursing Assistant (CHPNA®) examination was designed for experienced hospice and palliative nursing assistants. To be eligible, the applicant must fulfill the following requirements by the application deadline.

Recertification Overview  

CHPNA® Recertification

The CHPNA® certification is valid for four years.  To renew, the certificant must sit for and pass the computer-based exam again prior to the expiration date of their current certification. The Hospice and Palliative Accrual for Recertification (HPAR) process is not available for this credential.  Refer to CHPNA® Candidate Handbook for exam information.

Fees

CHPNA® Certification Renewal:   $200  ($170 for HPNA members)

If you have experienced a furlough, significant decrease in work hours, significant pay reduction, or loss of employment or similar circumstances, you may request a modification of fees by submitting a financial hardship application along with all required, supporting documents to hpcc@gohpcc.org for consideration.

Sandra Lee Shafer Certification Scholarships

These scholarships provide reimbursement of certification fees to eligible individuals and are valid for those earning a new Hospice and Palliative Credentialing Center certification or those who are renewing their current HPCC certification. The scholarships are competitive and individuals are selected from the applicant pool by the HPNF Awards Committee and approved by The Hospice and Palliative Nurses Foundation board members.
