CE Tracking

Through the Continuing Education (CE) tracking, you can keep track of your classes taken and print your record to document your professional achievements. It’s online and it’s easy and it’s FREE!

A transcript is initiated and provides you with a list of all courses you have started and/or completed. All course information is provided, including status, start and finish dates, and test scores.

Additionally, you can keep track of other achievements, including: Continuing Education, Academic Education, Professional Publications, Professional Presentations, Precepting/Mentoring, Volunteer Service, Recognition/Awards, Certification from a National Board, Grants, and Other Professional Development Activities. Included in these achievements are the professional development categories required for the CHPPN, CHPLN, and CHPCA HPAR (Hospice and Palliative Accrual for Recertification).

As well as tracking your records through CE tracking, the website offers real-time online access to courses through several nursing organizations and healthcare professional organizations, including the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association (HPNA).  You have the ability to study, test and receive continuing education contact hour credit all in one visit. In addition, you can print a certificate awarding the contact hours immediately after you have successfully passed the post-test.

Please Note: This CE tracking system is not integrated with the Learning Builder software used for ACHPN and CHPN recertification using the Hospice and Palliative Accrual for Recertification (HPAR) method.  You may have to print out or save this information to update your learning plan manually in Learning Builder.  Please contact HPCC at hpcc@gohpcc.org if you have any questions.

Accessing CE tracking
  1. Go to Nurses Learning Network.
  2. This takes you to the Register page.  If you have not taken courses before through Nurses Learning Network (NLN) or have not registered previously, enter your registration information, then click on Enter and go to step 6.  If you have taken courses through NLN in the past or have registered previously, skip the registration process and click on Login in the upper right box.
  3. Enter your username and password.
  4. Click on Login.
  5. You will see a Welcome screen.  Click on My Records in the upper right box.
  6. You are now at My Records page.  Click on CE Log Book. This brings up the list of Professional Development Categories.
  7. To add a professional development achievement, click on the appropriate category.  Fill in the boxes.  Click on Submit New Transcript.  This will add the achievement to your Log Book.
  8. To print your record, click on My Records in the upper right box, then CE Log Book, and click on the check box in the last column of your entries. Then click Print Selected Transcripts located at the bottom of the page.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) About CE Tracking
What is CE tracking?

Continuing Education tracking (CE tracking) is a function of the Learning Management System (LMS) E-Learning technology provided by the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association (HPNA). Through the CE tracking, you can keep track of your professional activities and print your record to document your professional achievements.

Is there a fee for CE tracking?

No, CE tracking is a free service.  However, the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association (HPNA) through the Nurses Learning Network (NLN), provides LMS E-learning programs which have HPNA member and non-member pricing.  The fee varies according to the number of contact hours awarded per program.  HPNA members link through the Members Only area of the HPNA website to receive member pricing on these programs.

How is this useful for HPAR?

When used for HPAR the printed transcript may be submitted in place of the individual completed “activity logs.”  The “summary log” in the HPAR packet must still be completed for submission and reflect the summary of activities captured on your CE tracking transcript.

Is LMS E-Learning required for tracking my HPAR continuing education?

No.  Interactive or self-study continuing education activities can be provided by a variety of organizations. However, all continuing education activities selected for HPAR submission must have been provided or formally approved for contact hours by an accredited provider or approver of continuing education. One of the most common accreditors is the American Nurses Credentialing Center Commission on Accreditation (ANCC COA).  Some state boards of nursing have a system for the formal approval of continuing education providers.  Refer to the appropriate HPAR application packet for further information regarding approved accredited providers.

How do I access the HPNA LMS E-Learning to take some courses?

Go to Nurses Learning Network and register (if it is your first time there) or login to get started.

May I include continuing education activities from outside providers?

Yes, you can include entries on your CE tracking transcript from outside providers other than HPNA E-learning courses.  Remember that for HPAR submission you are to only submit those entries that are provided by an approved accredited provider.

How do I print a transcript and choose specific activities from my transcript?

You may print from the “CE Log Book” page in “My Records.”  To print selected entries, click on the check box in the last column. Then click “Print Selected Transcripts” located at the bottom of the page.  You can print a transcript at any time choosing whichever activities from the various professional development categories meet the reason for the transcript (e.g., professional resume, license renewal, or submission for HPAR).

What Internet Browser is best for viewing programs?

Functionality is best achieved using Internet Explorer.  You can download this browser free by going to the Microsoft website.  Click on Search, enter Download Internet Explorer, then choose the “Downloads” page.  From here, select Internet Explorer.  Some of the courses/programs have sound. Adobe Flash is required to view ourses.
